Coastal Connections Lecture Series: Threats to the Georgia Coast

Skidaway Institute of Oceanography professor Clark Alexander will present an informative and visual program on the hazards facing Georgia’s coastal regions. Drawing on two decades of work in the area, Alexander will discuss coastal hazards relevant to Georgia, such as tropical storms, sea level rise and more. He will also introduce the Georgia Coastal Hazards Portal, a web-based tool that anyone can use to assess their specific exposure to coastal hazards, and present up-to-the-minute results of ongoing research to better quantify coastal Georgia’s hazard vulnerability.
