Corrosion Presentation: Building the First "Steamship" in History

Uploaded by swoody
Historian and author John Laurence Busch will attempt to re-calibrate your mind before showing why the proposition of making the first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by a "steamship" was met with a mixture of skepticism and fear. He then will show how Captain Moses Rogers designed and built a revolutionary craft that addressed that skepticism and fear, and also dealt with the increasing problem of corrosion. The resulting vessel -- the Savannah -- represents the first example of globalized technology in history. (Free and open to the public. Ballroom A.)
