Re: “Sign o' the times: RIP Leonard Miller

Another beautiful piece by the fine writer, Jessica Leigh Lebos. Don't skip over this one, as I almost did! Once again, I learn something about a special Savannah person and about signs that I see regularly and have had no idea of their significance. Next time I see them, I will see them again for the first time.

Almost lost is the sad fact that Leonard would be taken from us so early due to complications from diabetes. It is truly a shame that that can happen today.

Re: “Editor's Note: Giving thanks in a thankless time

Thank you! I look forward every week to you and to Jessica Leigh Lebos. You both hit the nail on the head issue after issue (pun intended) and never disappoint. You encourage us to think and remind us that we can do better.

Re: “When humanity fails, grim laughter comforts

We cannot forget. We must be reminded. Thank you for a brilliantly written piece that expresses the inexpressible. It will continue to happen as long as people view other groups of people as less than equal. What would you do?

  • Puns and fun with the National Society of Newspaper Columnists

Founded 40 years ago by a few lonely columnists looking to share war stories, the NSNC (pronounced “Eness-en-CEE” after the third cup of coffee or second glass of wine) hosts its conference in a different city every year and attracts a formidable line-up of special guests willing to speak of their time in the trenches.

  • How to be a better white person right now

Of course that’s the irony—and maybe the entire point: I have the prerogative of ducking difficult conversations with myself and others about racism indefinitely.
