Film: Andy Warhol's Women in Revolt! Week At A Glance

When: Sun., Feb. 23, 7 p.m. 2020
Price: Free, donations accepted
Produced and partially shot by iconic NYC Pop Artist Andy Warhol, but directed by Paul Morrissey, this 1971 cult film is a brutal satire of the Women's Liberation Movement, and stars three trans women who were stales of Warhol's "Factory scene" : Holly Woodlawn, Jackie Curtis and Candy Darling, two of whom were later immortalized in the lyrics of Lou Reed's smash hit song "Walk on the Wild Side." It' a trashy, low-budget romp that bridged the gap between experimental underground art movies and more mainstream commercial motion pictures, and is recommended for fans of early John Waters efforts. Free admission and free concessions, with voluntary donations in any amount gladly accepted but not required.
