Re: “Editor's Note: The List, aka, What's Really Going Wrong In Savannah?

"Unregulated proliferation of walking tours and tourism-oriented vehicles contributing to downtown congestion."

I disagree. Walking tours are being assaulted with tickets for where we are supposed to be and times. For standing in the street or if a guest runs across the street to take a picture of one of the lovely homes.
We are a city built for sauntering. And while it is valid for the city to watch us, but instead of enjoying the streets, many guides are rushed adding to the congestion.
While tour operated vehicles are getting louder. The same company, ie. The trollies, are allowed to crowd the square. One after the other, shouting to their guests. Anyone standing in the squares can listen to sometimes factual information.

This city has been in bed with large companies for a long time, ushering out the small businesses benefiting from the tourist trade is not fair.
Instead of parking maids, there should be respect given. Many walking companies stay away from congested areas of traffic, while the trolleys, hearses and slow rides populate those areas.

The city should not be so money based when it comes to tourism.
