Jazz Farewell to Johnny Harris @Johnny Harris

THE fried chicken and BBQ over at Johnny Harris will certainly be missed when it closes, but Savannah’s also losing an occasional venue for live music when the Victory Drive institution is shuttered. The Savannah Songwriters Series bid farewell a few weeks ago, and now, it’s time for Coastal Jazz Association to give an adieu of their own.

The Savannah Jazz Composers Quartet is a recently formed group comprised of Eric Jones on keyboards, Mitch Hennes on bass, Calvin Barnes on saxophone, and Billy Hoffman on drums. Expect a collection of original compositions, hits from the American Songbook, and unique improvisations as a musical salute to Johnny Harris’s legacy.

The event is a part of Coastal Jazz Association’s Sunday Jazz series.

Sunday, MARch 20, 5 p.m., $20, all-ages
