Re: “Polk’s On the Go: ‘From our store to your door’

I usually order the smaller box from Polk's every other week. I've always gotten high quality produce. Polk's has the best tomatoes-I always get those! And the last 2 boxes I ordered a watermelon as an add-on and found them to be the sweetest I have ever eaten! The convenience, the locally-sourced produce at the highest quality and the selection are what makes this service as wonderful as going to a farmers market.

Re: “Best City Employee

I worked with Bill for years and the voters got it right! He is the best! Outstanding at customer service and knowledgeable without being patronizing! I love Bill!

Re: “Editor's Note: The money to fight crime is out there

You are not allowed by law to fund operating costs of any form of government -school or municipal/county with SPLOST funds. Those monies can only be used for capital purchases-buildings, land, infrastructure, big equipment to use on those properties. So you cannot move funding from the arena to hire more officers. You can however use the money to pay Ms. Cutter's severance, or the Bay. St. mess. That money comes from general funds. A great idea but laws prevent certain actions.

Re: “Editor's Note: New City Manager hire is a great opportunity to reexamine some not-so-great ideas

I would suggest that Mr. Hernandez's first action be to rid himself and the City of the lame duck Cutter by sending her home to collect her salary gift from council. As a lame duck, she has reorganized staff with no regard for logic or efficiency, using her power to punish those she perceived as ineffectual through demotion and reassignment. She eliminated the Management Services Bureau for no apparent reason and continues to require an eternity to review any documents or recommendations before her, systematically destroying what staff morale still existed. Returning the City to leadership by a professionally trained public administrator is the smartest decision made by this council to date! Let's not destroy his abilities to turn the City around by saddling him with his predecessor's cloud hovering about for a year. I doubt any administrator of his caliber, experience and training would value the consult of an indecisive, vision-less lame duck!
