The reason you stand is to show respect. You stand when the judge enters the court room, you stand when the POTUS enters the room. The point is, there are some things which are sacred to others; if by your personal choice you choose to not perform certain acts in certain situations, you will be unknowingly disrespecting the people who believe in that very act. This is a free country, you are free to express your opinions, you are not free from the repercussions as the NFL is now seeing. What many don't seem to realize is those players are at work and on the clock. Would your employer allow you to cause all of these distractions? I think not.
