May 13: Today's events

Here's what's going on today (Sunday, May 13): Everybody's talking about Bay Street Theatre's production of Rent, which opened last night. The big musical is onstage again tonight at 7:30, at Club One. Comedian-turned-filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait's God Bless America screens at 8 p.m. at Muse Arts Warehouse. And there's an interesting cross-section of live music, including the gypsy jazz ensemble Velvet Caravan at North Beach Grill, A Nickel Bag of Funk at Overtime Sports Bar, and a Savannah Songwriters Series concert at Doc's Bar, with Todd Murray, Pete Love and others.
