The sad thing is there are parents who don't understand what is going on. Parents must educate themselves about the testing situation. In my opinion, a big problem with standardized testing is there are students who test well, but do not perform in the classroom and vice versa. In my opinion, many of the educational problems are due to behavioral problems in the schools and teachers are not given the support they need then are blamed when they can't control the class or are not supported when they call attention to real problems in the class.
I applaud the parents that are working to make a change in Chatham County. The next thing I would like to see is giving the teachers a voice without fear of losing their jobs for speaking out.
