National Beer Day: Where to enjoy a cold one around town

Most people don’t need an excuse to drink beer, the world’s most popular alcoholic drink by far. But in the event that you do, here’s a good one. April 7 just so happens to be National Beer Day. It’s a festive opportunity to throw back a bottle or two of this beloved beverage. You could stick to a six-pack of your run-of-the-mill beer from your nearest gas station, but this holiday really calls for something a little more special than that, don’t you think? Instead, why don’t you head to one of our welcoming watering holes and enjoy a cold one in the company of your fellow beer buffs? Here are some great bars where you can celebrate National Beer Day.

Ben’s Grill & Tap

Ben’s Grill & Tap boasts the largest selection of craft beers in Midtown with an array of brews available on tap, by the bottle and in cans. They’ve got IPAs, lagers, ales, you name it. They even have non-alcoholic options for those who want to skip out on the intoxication factor. Whatever you’re into, you’re sure to find a beer you’ll love at Ben’s.

Crystal Beer Parlor

If you’re looking for truly unique beers, Crystal Beer Parlor is the place for you. Most of their beers are hard to find, made with rare ingredients or part of a very limited run. On tap, they keep a good mix of locally-sourced and nationwide beers. And their bottles and cans are quite worldly. If you want to drink off the beaten path, you’ll discover all sorts of interesting finds here.

World of Beer

On National Beer Day, World of Beer is pretty much a no-brainer. The Tampa-based chain has two local locations, one in Pooler and one in downtown Savannah. Forget 99 bottles of beer on the wall. Here, you’ll find hundreds from all over the world. Ask for one of their expertly-crafted beer flights for a range of tastes.

Service Brewing Co.

Veteran-owned Service Brewing is Savannah’s go-to for authentic American-made beers. Whether you’re new to craft brews or a craft connoisseur, Service Brewing has a beer that’ll please your palate. They offer a range of year-round and seasonal brews. And they also have small research and development batches that are creative and experimental.

White Whale Craft Ales

White Whale Craft Ales is a tasting room and package store that exclusively vends craft beer. Their rotating menu features exciting and elusive beers from all over the world, ensuring a unique tasting experience every time you stop by. Fill your growler with something good and stroll across the street to Forsyth Park. Sounds like a great way to spend National Beer Day to us.

Moon River Brewing Co.

Serving Savannah since 1999, Moon River Brewing is a favorite local haunt for undeniably great beer. They serve a well-rounded menu of beers, many of which are brewed right here at their Bay Street location. They also offer guest drafts from throughout the region. Moon River has a mix of regular and rotating beers, and there’s also new brews in the works, so find some time to visit soon.
