Navy Gangs, Anna McClellan @El-Rocko Lounge

Experience a night of Omaha-rooted, Brooklyn-living indie rock.

Navy Gangs originally formed in Omaha, following music instead of finishing high school. The band saved up and moved to Brooklyn, finding a new home at guitarist Noah Kohll’s grandmother’s house and transforming it into a makeshift studio. It was there that the group recorded its debut self-titled EP, released in 2016 via Modern Sky. With just the right amount of dirt, sunny arrangements, and infectious hooks, Navy Gangs holds tight to its Omaha indie rock tradition and pairs it with a DIY ease.

Anna McClellan is a songwriter based in Brooklyn with Omaha origins. She released her second album, Yes and No, in February, via Father/Daughter Records. A record of reflective piano pop written during a solo trip through the country, Yes and No is a reassuring, contemplative album of beautiful, sometimes humorous, lyricism and McClellan’s clear, decisive, worn-on-the-very-edges voice.
