Frank Adler is a single man raising his niece Mary, a child prodigy, in a coastal Florida town. His plans to give her a normal school life are foiled when the 7-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of his formidable mother, whose own plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary.
