GREAT LADIES OF JAZZ feat. SHANA TUCKER @ DISTRICT LIVE
The Long Island native possesses a wealth of talent. Cellist, songwriter, arts advocate and teacher are just a few, but her voice is the star of this show. Hear tributes to the legends Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone from Tucker’s stunning vocal range, backed by the smooth sounds of The Christian Tamburr Trio.

CINCO DE MAYO DANCE PARTY WITH LPT SALSA BAND @ DISTRICT LIVE
The Jacksonville 10-piece orchestra visits Savannah on the right day, and let’s all celebrate that Cinco falls on a Friday night this year. You’ll want to sleep late after the nonstop barrage of salsa, Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban rump shakers, followed by a DJ set spinning until midnight. Wallflowers, have a shot of tequila and let loose.
FRI MAY 5 | 8 PM
GEOFFREY ASMUS @ THE WORMHOLE
Irony may have been beaten like a dead horse, but some comedians know how it works. When they add the right amount of self-deprecating humor, it really works. Asmus bills himself as the “World’s Most Alpha Comedian” and “the only funny white comedian in the country” and if you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you’re encouraged to go find out, which you can do without the mess of the F around part.

DAVI CRIMMINS @ THE WORMHOLE
Having a top 25 podcast on Apple is quite an achievement for someone who started out as a radio intern. Given what she pulled off in between, maybe it’s not so surprising. Taking on all tasks at the station led to co-host position on Atlanta’s nationally syndicated The Bert Show. She added hilarious stand-up skills, acting, and a top radio personality award, so when The Bert Show and her parted ways, it hardly mattered.

JOELTON MAYFIELD + ANNA KELLAM & LANKIN CRAWFORD @ OVER YONDER
Although from central Texas, Joelton Mayfield (pictured) is based in Nashville. So, like all other Nashville musicians, he’s following the prime directive to go entertain Savannah. Blending equal parts Wilco and fourth-wave emo musically, with a Southern Gothic literary sensibility to the lyrics, Mayfield’s alt country is very much his own unique sound. A perfect performer for Over Yonder, which deserves reward for a kitchen that stays open late, performers like this, and bingo right after the show.
MON MAY 1 | 6 PM
MASSACRE + MORTA SKULL + DRUID LORD @ LODGE OF SORROWS
The Tampa area is without question the epicenter of American death metal. Consider the pioneers Death, Nasty Savage, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Obituary, and others started there in the 80s and early 90s. Cannibal Corpse and Malevolent Creation even left their hometowns to be part of the scene. Massacre were right there from the start, and with two remaining original members from the 1984 version, they have a legacy to protect. They do so, loudly.

ZEE: ZEBBLER ENCANTI EXPERIENCE @ ELAN SAVANNAH
Most EDM artists have a strong visual component to their vibe. Zebbler Encanti moves it to the forefront as an equal part of the live experience. Zebbler is the Belarus-born/N. Virginia-raised visual artist. Encanti, from Valencia, Spain, is the sound supplier of euphoric bass and trap. Together, the ZEE is a fully immersive audio-visual spectacle that ought to hit EDM fans squarely in their tingly joy receptors.

ZZZAHARA + FLORIDA WOMAN + SWEET VERMOUTH @ EL ROCKO LOUNGE
The LA singer-songwriter and guitarist represents her city properly. Born to Mexican and Filipino parents, stints in alt pop bands Eyedress and The Simps preceded the solo work. Apparently, much was learned because this alt pop is more mature, nuanced and textured. It’s also very fun. Lyrically, LA comes through again with themes of the area’s transient nature and how people lose and find themselves there, heading for something else.
