I am amazed that anyone would take the position that the bridge is aptly named. There isn't even the romanticism of the false "Lost Cause" narrative associated with the name. Who can argue in favor of the current name??? It is high time the name is changed and any citizen of moral character would support that change.

I am certain that many can speak more eloquently than I as to why the statues should come down. Certainly, I'd be hard pressed to find someone to speak LESS eloquently than ol' Neil as to why they should stay. Wow am I glad I moved out of the landings!!!! This letter sure makes the landings club seem like a welcoming place...
If folks want to be willfully ignorant of the facts surrounding the Confederacy than that is on them. But for the rest of us who choose to live in the 21st century, it's time for the statues to come down. If GA law (and whoa, there are some doozies) prohibits removal then at the very least we can expand the story to show the cruel lie that The Lost Cause is built on. Now some like our friend Neil will be quite upset that dignity is given to other experiences. To them I say, human dignity is not a zero sum game.

I believe that 21st Century Americans are entirely capable of remembering the atrocities of the Civil War without honoring with statues those who fought for the enslavement of an entire race. States' rights indeed...
