THE last time VUUMM’s members were in Savannah, they performed under the moniker Ashes. Now, they’re back with a new name and a new release. The avant-garde Richmond trio, whose arrangements feature guitar, synthesizer, and percussion, just recorded a split tape with fellow Virginians HeadlessMantis.
Oakland, California’s Night Shapes joins the bill. Influenced by bands like The Jesus Lizard, Wire, and Liars, the four-piece makes artful, off-kilter post-punk. The band arrives in Savannah with a brand-new album, Wake Up Tape, available now on Heavy Dose Records.
Savannah’s own Samson will also perform.
