Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of April 17.

“At approximately 4:40 a.m., Metro officers responded to a report of an injured man, who was found on the shoulder of the roadway on Southbound Harry Truman Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found the man suffering from a serious gunshot wound,” police say.

The victim, Brandon Champion, 25, was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

“Detectives stress that this does not appear to be a random shooting,” police report.
