Art on Bull fundraiser
Who: ARTS Southeast
When: Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 9 p.m.

What: Art on Bull on 39th Street between Bull Street & Desoto Avenue will fill the evening with art, music, and community featuring live DJs, food trucks, cocktails, a raffle with items from your favorite businesses, live art happenings, and a site-specific installation by the SCAD Fibers Department. Massie Heritage Center celebrates Native American Heritage Month
Who: Massie Heritage Center
When: Saturday, Nov.4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Massie Heritage Center, 207 E. Gordon Street, Savannah
What: Massie Heritage Center will celebrate Native American Heritage Month on November 4, 2023 with living history demonstrations of traditional indigenous skills practiced by Native Americans of the Georgia Coast.
There will also be Native American Games for kids, arts and crafts, and guided tours of the American Indian Gallery. Prizes will be awarded for game winners, including a grand prize for the Chunkee Champion. SCCPSS staff and students will be admitted free with school ID. Admission is required for all non-SCCPSS attendees.
Housing Savannah, Inc. invites community to brunch for a cause
Who: Housing Savannah
When: Sunday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: The Garage at Victory North
What: Housing Savannah invites the community to Sunday Funday at The Garage at Victory North, where a portion of all sales (food and beverage) will benefit the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund through Housing Savannah, Inc.
Guests will enjoy selections from the restaurant’s full menu, and have the option of indoor, or outdoor seating on a private patio. The event bolsters Housing Savannah’s efforts in educating, advocating, and fundraising for affordable and workforce housing in the greater Savannah area.
All ages are welcome, and while reservations are not required, it is encouraged to arrive early for prime parking. Affordable housing is the centerpiece of a vital and sustainable thriving regional economy.
The Savannah Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) finances home repairs, down payment assistance, constructs new homes, and provides affordable housing development financing. The SAHF supports individuals, groups, agencies, and communities that are engaged in activities that retain, improve, and produce affordable and workforce housing for a wide range of Savannah-area residents in need of safe, stable, affordable, and healthy housing.
8th annual Savannah Local Artist Market returns
Who: Savannah Local Artist Market (SLAM)
When: Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Salvation Army baseball field, 3000 Bee Rd.
What: The Savannah Local Artist Market (SLAM) will be holding their free fall art market. This season’s event will be the 8th market since its conception in 2019 – and one of the most exciting! The market will feature over 85 local artists across a variety of different mediums including fine arts, textiles, photography, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, mixed media, and much more.
Unique to this season’s event will be SLAM’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Savannah – a portion of all proceeds will be donated to them! Habitat for Humanity will also have a booth, where patrons can get more information about this valuable
organization. This season’s market will continue to feature Arts Southeast, who head up Sulfur Studios in the Starland district. Their booth will feature information about street fairs, programs, studios, and more. With such a large variety of artists big and small, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event.
Local musicians, such as the World Famous Crabettes, Pete Schmid, Bill Starrs, and bagpiper Dan Ailes, will be there throughout the day. In addition to the live entertainment, this season’s market will feature multiple food trucks from local favorites such as Bowtie BBQ, Gainz Food Truck, Keller Wood Fire Pizza, Flirt With Dessert and Jenni’s Ice Cream. Bring the whole family to eat and paint on the 8-foot-long community canvas, which is a SLAM favorite every year.
SD Gunner Fund to host Salute to Service event
Who: SD Gunner Fund
When: Saturday, Nov. 11 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Belhaven Event Venue in Richmond Hill
What: Local nonprofit, SD Gunner Fund is hosting their Salute to Service event, which aims to recognize SD Gunner Fund’s incredible supporters who make their mission possible as well as honor the veterans, first responders, and children with special needs who have benefitted from their service and therapy dog programs.
Guests will enjoy a good ‘ol Low Country Boil and more delicious food donated by Himalayan Curry Kitchen, Southern Charcuterie, All Things Chocolate and More, and Nothing Bundt Cakes! Attendees may grab a drink at the cash bar and enjoy Savannah Axe Throwing, award presentations, and learn more about SD Gunner Fund’s service and therapy dog programs.

Plant Riverside District and Savannah Music Festival announce landmark partnership, expanding world-class concert experiences at District Live
Plant Riverside District and Savannah Music Festival have announced a landmark new partnership, which will expand year-round live music options for Savannah-area residents and visitors.
Savannah Music Festival, a leading nonprofit organization that presents an acclaimed festival in downtown Savannah every spring, will present additional concerts throughout the year at District Live, a state-of the-art performance venue at Plant Riverside District, starting in February 2024. District Live will also host the official 2024 Savannah Music Festival season announcement for festival supporters in November.
“This partnership is big news for music lovers in Savannah and will offer exciting new experiences that keep the music playing far beyond our spring festival season,” said Savannah Music Festival Executive Director Gene Dobbs Bradford. “We want to expand our commitment to host live performances in celebrated venues across downtown Savannah and can’t wait to offer new opportunities to enjoy live music at Plant Riverside District, which is truly a world-class destination.”
Savannah Music Festival artists will have the opportunity to perform on the main stage at District Live and to record new music, interviews and other creative content at District Live Studios, a state-of-the-art recording studio located on-site.

More Than 120 Renewal by Andersen employees build bikes for Savannah children
More than 120 Renewal by Andersen employees converge on Savannah next month to help make the holidays brighter for local children. Employees from 12 locations across the country are teaming up with Operation Kid Forward on Sunday, Nov. 5 at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. The team of employees will be working on gifts for local underprivileged children.
As part of Renewal by Anderen’s ongoing Give Back initiative, employees will work at four stations building bikes, writing holiday cards, wrapping gifts, and stuffing stockings for 50 to 70 local children.
“We are honored to be able to help out with this worthy cause,” said Bernard Foster, president of Renewal by Andersen of Greater Georgia. “It is our mission at Renewal by Andersen, as part of our Core Values, to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.”
Operation Kid Forward is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping underserved youth in the Savannah community by providing transformative travel and tangible items to improve daily living and/or expanded social experiences. This all-volunteer, hands-on organization arranges charitable events in addition to providing substantial goods and experiences to those in need within the community.
“We are incredibly thankful to Renewal by Andersen volunteers for pitching in,” said Nisha Giustino, founder of Operation Kid Forward “Children don’t ask for the hardships they face. We want to do our part to make the holidays a little more joyful for the children and less stressful for parents who need it most.”
Tharros Place Hires Luke Earley as Education Coordinator
“We are excited to have Luke join us at Tharros Place,” said Julie Wade, Executive Director of Tharros Place. “His skills and experience will help young people in need return to health and normalcy through education, enrich them intellectually, and position them for success as they transition to the next phase of their lives.”
Upon admission to Tharros Place, girls will be assessed for reading and math achievement and develop a personalized education plan that focuses on their strengths and interests, as well as chart a path forward beyond K-12 education. Girls will attend school online through Georgia Cyber Academy, with supplemental learning by Earley and support from an Education Mentor.
Earley has been a classroom teacher in both China and in Savannah, teaching English and social studies. Most recently, he helped young people learn with Junior Achievement of Georgia, a nonprofit dedicated to helping students learn about financial literacy and gain career readiness skills.
Earley, who lives in Savannah with his wife and son, earned a master’s degree in human services counseling and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, both from Liberty University. He is a state-certified educator.
