Savannah government buildings and businesses across the city turned their exterior lights green on Friday night as part of an event to kick off St. Patrick’s Day month. Take a look at locations from across the city turning green on March 1 by checking out the slideshow at bottom of this story.
The campaign was launched at a 7pm ceremony on Friday, March 1 at the corner of Bay and Barnard Streets, directly across from City Hall. Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and Chatham County Commissioner Chester Ellis “flipped the switch” to light up City Hall in green.
As of Sunday, March 3, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (22 E. Harris St.) had yet to flip its exterior lights green. The fountain at Forsyth Park will turn green on Friday, March 8.
