Cities often take on the vibe of their leading industries. Los Angeles, home to Hollywood, is known for glitz and glamour. New York, the nation’s capital of commerce, is very fast-paced and competitive. Washington, DC, the seat of government, is predictably dull. Savannah has a dominant tourism industry well-known for delivering fun, lax drinking rules, and Southern hospitality

Multifaceted artist to release new single ‘Savannah Sky’ this month
Charles Maring is an artist with an impressive international resume who has lived and worked primarily in the northeast. When New York shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Maring and his wife embarked on a trip along the East Coast. The two eventually made their way to Savannah, fell in love with the city, and decided to pack their bags and move.
Celebrate 20 years of Blues Rock domination with Ana Popovic
An extremely abbreviated list, excluding the countless female pioneers in jazz, soul and R&B, can begin with Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick, who got her start in 1965 as folk was morphing into what we recognize today as modern electric rock and roll.
Nashville native seeks to create positive moments through music
Watching his father lead the children’s choirs at the church and school he attended, leading a band comes naturally to Nashville native Nordista Freeze. It’s the only job he ever wanted. Part of the massive non-country music scene there, Freeze is carving out his own place in Music City with much larger goals in mind. His enthusiasm for the positive possibilities of music, expression and performance reveal an earnest, honest artist who sincerely wants to meet you and be friends at his upcoming gig at Victory North on Saturday, May 15.

Basik Lee: a Renaissance man
It’s hard to describe Steven Baumgardner, aka Basik Lee, as an artist. He’s an emcee, DJ, poet and singer/songwriter that raps, plays classical guitar, beatboxes and dances. If you had to check a box that described his music and abilities, the most accurate course of action would be to check “other” and write in “renaissance man,” because he can essentially do it all.
Band, beer yield perfect combination
A southern band has brought together appreciation for two crafts which stem from creative minds who love what they do by bringing their sound to the eclectic crowds of southern breweries.
Grunge on a Roll:
Still on the heels of a late-night show at the Wormhole opening up for the touring band THE DEV, I caught up with Savannah-based band LILAKK. If you haven’t noticed, they’ve been on a bit of a roll lately, popping up with gigs — and a following — all over the city.
