On Saturday, Dec. 16, families are invited to experience the magic of the holiday season at the fourth annual Trustees’ Garden Christmas Festival. The event will be an opportunity to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus, go sledding, rock climbing, and much more.
Kathy Kurazawa, the event’s organizer, said more activities have been added this year. Families will find an area for snowball fights, bounce houses, a train and several market vendors. “My favorite part is when you get to the event and you see everybody just milling around and all the kids having fun. Everybody’s smiling and having a good time, all ages, and it’s a family event,” Kurazawa said.
Kurazawa started planning this year’s event in June and has been making
preparations well in advance. About 16 vendors are scheduled to partake, ranging from jewelry, handmade wooden toys, ornaments, face painting, baked goods and more.
“It’s just fun to see everybody happy that day and just getting ready for Christmas, but I think the snow adds a lot to the Savannah area. So it’s just fun to watch everybody and the expressions on their faces. The kids coming down the snow slope. This just just makes you feel good. It’s just a really feel good event.”
This year, a donation will be made to CURE Childhood Cancer based on proceeds from the event. Kurazawa said Charles Morris Sr. supports and puts on the Christmas Festival every year for the community to enjoy.
