The annual HBCU beach party, Orange Crush 2024 was as controversial in its leadup as any event on Tybee in recent history. While traffic, parking, and law enforcement measures were put in place by the island beginning as early as Tuesday, photos and drone footage from Saturday, April 20 show plenty of Orange Crush visitors populated mostly near the Tybee pier.

On Sunday, April 21, in the aftermath of the peak of Orange Crush weekend, Tybee Island Ocean Rescue posted photos of cleanup efforts on the beach. Volunteers from Tybee and visitors for Orange Crush were seen on the beach Sunday helping to clean up trash left behind.

Adding to the aerial theme, the Tybee Island Police Department posted photos of at least two helicopters used by law enforcement and emergency services over the weekend.

K-9 units on Tybee over the weekend
A road safety checkpoint was used on Friday, April 19 late in the afternoon and the use of police K-9's were also prominent throughout the weekend on the island.
