Local lounges are converting their spaces into welcoming winter wonderlands, complete with Christmassy cocktails, themed treats and jolly decor certain to get you into the holiday spirit. Make the most wonderful time of the year even merrier by visiting these playful pop-up bars.

Thompson Savannah Holiday Bar

Thompson Savannah is celebrating the holidays this year with their inaugural ‘12 Days of Thompson,’ which includes a toy drive, gingerbread house contest, holiday bingo, a holiday marker’s market — and, you guessed it, a Holiday Bar. Now through the New Year, the Holiday Bar will offer guests a fun opportunity to get festive with holiday cocktails and bar bites. Menu highlights include Snow Day in the South, made with Latin-inspired eggnog, pirouette and a shot of montenegro; Yule Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid, featuring hot buttered rum, cinnamon and vanilla; and the very necessary Facing My Inlaws, which is a house-infused bourbon shot. In addition to the merry menu offerings, every Thursday through Saturday, pop up patrons can enjoy the jolly sounds from local DJs like DJ Miss Paradise, DJ Press Play, DJ Tarrion Jones and DJ Matka.The Holiday Bar will also host exciting events like holiday trivia night on Friday, Dec. 15, an ugly sweater party on Saturday, Dec. 16, and a holiday jazz concert with the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra Trio on Friday, Dec. 22, so be sure to mark your calendar.

Wayward Christmas Bar

Wayward at the Perry Lane Hotel will open their popular Christmas Bar to the public on Friday, Dec. 1 with a ribbon-cutting and launch party featuring a live DJ and a special appearance from the anti-Claus, himself, Krampus. Through Jan. 1, guests can enjoy festive cocktails like the Banana Bread-Nog; which combines banana and cinnamon-infused anejo tequila, amontillado sherry and homemade eggnog; as well as the Crushed Ice Grasshopper, made with creme de menthe, white creme de cacao, cream and shaved chocolate. Combine the great holiday drinks, with the delightful decor, and you’ve got a recipe for Christmas cheer.

Zunzibar Ski Lodge

With locations in downtown Savannah and Tybee Island, Zunzibar, the sister to Savannah’s famed Zunzi’s, has been transformed from a casual beach bar concept into a magical après ski experience complete with snowy decor, cozy igloos, winter-themed drinks and aptly-named ‘Frost Bites.’ Gather with friends in an igloo, enjoy table games and take advantage of their three unlimited drink packages featuring festive libations like Winter Siesta, made with El Jimador Silver, orange liqueur, ginger beer, cranberry, lime, rosemary and a sugar/salt rim; and the sweet Sugar Cookie Shot, which combines white rum, coconut, pineapple and pumpkin spice cream. Be sure to warm up with a spiked hot drink and throw back a shot-ski with your friends. Throw in some of Zunzi’s mouthwatering wings and a few Frost Bites, like their peri-peri cheese dip or slaap chip nachos, and you’ve got the makings of a festive, fun-filled night. The ski lodge experience will be available at both Zunzibar locations through Wednesday, Feb. 14. Igloo reservations are available on OpenTable.

Alpine Village at The Lost Square

Atop The Alida Hotel sits The Lost Square, a luxe oasis boasting stunning views of Savannah’s skyline along with excellent cocktails and palate-pleasing bites. Just in time for the holiday season, The Lost Square has been converted into Alpine Village. This holiday haven features charming yurts that can accommodate up to six people. Guests can enjoy a special menu curated exclusively for Alpine Village, which includes the Southern classic Low Country Boil, fireside staple s’mores and unique cocktails like Mrs. Nesbitt’s Tea Time, made with bourbon, apricot, lemon oleo saccharum, winter spices, assam and Ceylon tea. The Alpine Village experience is available for booking through Resy now through Thursday, Jan. 4.

Sippin’ Santa at Sorry Charlie’s

Seeking a sunny escape from the North Pole, Santa has descended upon Sorry Charlie’s upstairs tiki bar, Bamboo Tiki Room. Now through New Year’s Eve, the tropical lounge is hosting the Sippin’ Santa pop up. Enjoy tiki-style cocktails with a holiday twist like the North Pole Bowl, which combines Caribbean rums, black tea, thrice-spiced honey, lime and vanilla syrup in a sizable vessel for two. Other menu highlights include the eponymous Sippin’ Santa, the Surf Nut, Sharkey’s First Christmas and the Ginger Snapper shot. Fitting for our warmer Southern winters, the Sippin’ Santa pop-up is the perfect place to unwind this holiday season.

Shuk Mediterranean Holiday Bar

Now through New Year’s Day, Shuk Mediterranean is presenting their Holiday Bar experience, which is available Tuesday–Friday starting at 4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:30 a.m. Guests can enjoy cocktails that embrace the winter spirit like the Rosy Cheeks, a pomegranate margarita, and Boozy Hot Cocoa, spiced hot chocolate spiked with your choice of vodka or bourbon, while taking in the dazzling display of lights in Shuk’s atrium. Non-alcoholic spritzes are available as well.
