Fortune Feimster is a charismatic comedian, writer and actor known for her roles in shows like Hulu’s “The Mindy Project” and CBS’s “Life in PIeces.” She recently released her latest special eponymously titled “Good Fortune,” which is currently streaming on Netflix. And now Feimster is hitting the road, bringing her “Live, Laugh, Love!” tour to cities across the country, and Savannah is next up on her itinerary. Feimster will be performing in Savannah on Friday, Feb. 3 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre. It will be her first time performing in the Hostess City, and she’s looking forward to it.

“I think when I was a kid, we stopped through Savannah at some point. But I didn’t get to spend any real time there, so I’m very very excited to get over there as an adult and see the city,” she said.

Though Feimster may have yet to become acquainted with Savannah, she’s no stranger to the South. She’s a North Carolina native with a penchant for portraying Southern characters onlne. One of her beloved characters is Brenda, a God-fearing, day-drinking, turquoise-loving housewife with a spot-on Southern drawl who frequently dons UGA apparel — Feimster’s mom’s alma mater — when not soaking in her hot tub.

“A lot of Southern people especially enjoy that character because we all know those kinds of women. . . Growing up in the South, I knew so many women like that, and she’s a culmination of a bunch of women who I would observe growing up,” Feimster explained.

Beyond portraying her hilarious characters, Feimster shines on both screen and stage. She delivers a unique brand of comedic storytelling that makes her stand-up relatable and really funny. She enjoys “letting a story breathe and taking people on a journey,” leading her audience through a narrative that doesn’t have to rely on frequent punchlines to get laughs. She draws inspiration from her life, connecting with audiences on a human level.

“Most of my stories come from different aspects of my life,” she stated.

Her first Netflix special “Sweet and Salty” was all about growing pains and finding her identity. In Good Fortune,” she shared falling in love with her now-wife and adulting. And “Live, Laugh, Love!” picks up where the last special leaves off.

“I’m talking about my honeymoon, talking about married life when you’re figuring things out as a couple. . . I think people enjoy the stories about my life and the people in my life. I think they find it relatable,” Feimster shared.

What she loves most about comedy is having a special opportunity to uplift others with laughter.

“[I love] just hearing people laugh. That’s an awesome thing to get to hear and experience. I try to add some levity in the world when I can, and I hope that whatever I’m doing is making people feel good. That’s such a neat part of what we get to do,” she expressed.

Feimster encourages the public to come out to her show, affirming that it will be a good time.

She said, “it’s nice to see a room full of people laughing and just having a nice time. There’s such positivity in that room. . . My goal is always to have people leave the show feeling better than when they got there. And I really think that is something people come to experience, so it makes me feel good.”

In this latest show, Feimster is presenting all new material, finding innovative ways to engage with her audience. It’s an interactive show that allows Feimster to really connect, making each story and every joke more impactful.

“I try to make my comedy relatable to everyone. I don’t focus on people who are like me. They can certainly relate to the stories I tell, but I want there to be things in my comedy that everyone from all walks of life can relate to. I think my stories do that. I touch on being a daughter, being a partner, being a friend and being a person who is going through life. I really hope that it’s a show that a lot of different people can enjoy.”

Feimster’s “Live, Laugh, Love!” show will begin at 7:00 p.m. For more information and a link to the tickets page, visit fortunefeimster.com/.
