Ten new officers were officially sworn in as Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police officers at a Badge Pinning Ceremony this morning at the SCMPD’s new Professional Development Center.

The officers come at a timely point, as the Department is nearly 100 officers short of optimum patrol staffing.

“The new officers completed 11 weeks of state-mandated training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center and seven weeks of SCMPD Patrol School,” says a department spokesperson.

The new officers are Greg Brogcinski, James English, Juan Herrera, Scott Layne, Joseph Overholt, James Persse, Michelle Pohlen, Shawn Pollock, Marion Roberts and Thomas Shepard.
