Vice President Kamala Harris will be with her running mate in Savannah on Friday, Aug. 9 as the likely Democratic nominee for President continues campaigning in battleground states, including Georgia, ahead of the Nov. 5 election against Republican nominee and former President, Donald Trump. The schedule for Harris and her VP running mate were reported by POLITICO Tuesday night while Harris was campaigning in Atlanta. The time and venue for Harris’ Savannah visit have not been released.
In February, Harris made Savannah her third stop on a nationwide “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” Tour. She spoke for approximately 19 minutes on Feb. 6 at the Savannah Civic Center. On Tuesday in Atlanta, Harris reaffirmed her campaign’s prioritization of Georgia in November’s election.
Georgia’s 16 electoral votes could prove crucial come November, and if the 2020 election is any indication, it will be a tightly contested race. President Joe Biden (49.51%) narrowly won the state over Trump (49.25%) in 2020 en route to his 303 electoral votes (270 needed to win). Early voting in Georgia will be open Oct. 15–Nov. 1. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 7.
