Lauren Wolverton is self-described storyteller, fashion addict and lover of lattes. At Connect Savannah, she is a journalist and a strategic marketing consultant. Wolverton grew up between Georgia and Mississippi, then went on to graduate from Mississippi State University. A job as a news producer at a local television station brought her to the Hostess City, and her love of entertainment and business brought her to Connect Savannah. Wolverton is passionate about sharing the stories of those growing Savannah’s fashion and music scenes, along with those working every day to foster and rescue animals. She loves eating, drinking and shopping local. When Wolverton isn’t working, she can be found at the gym or at the newest restaurant in town having a beer. Some of you may know me, but if you don’t, let me introduce myself. I’m Lauren Wolverton. I moved here from Starkville, Mississippi, in May 2019 for a job at a local television station. Since then, I’ve moved over here to Connect Savannah, where I’ve been working for about three-and- a-half months.
Can’t stop, won’t stop
New Orleans-based pop-punk band Neutral Snap woke up in Savannah in March 2020 and found their world flipped upside down. Mayor Van Johnson had just declared a local state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and cities across the nation were doing the same.
Neutral Snap was in the middle of their 22-date tour for their debut album “Sorry I Passed Out.”
“We said ‘well, I guess we’re going home now,’” guitarist J.P. Brown said.
Whaleboat charts a course to post-pandemic concerts
While bands and live-music venues across the country are still struggling to stay afloat amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Savannah’s own Whaleboat is charting a course toward bringing back in-person concerts, headlining a three-act outdoor show happening at The Rail Pub on March 4.
