COACH’S & COLD PIZZA
The popular Thunderbolt sports bar Coachs Corner will be the subject of a segment on Americas great sports bars on the ESPN2 show Cold Pizza.
Hosted by Savannah native Zvee Geffen, the America’s Favorite Sports Bars segment is expected to air in about a month.
During the show, Geffen completes a ten-point checklist on sports bars across the country that he visits, including: food, service, sports action, bathrooms, and his abiblity to pick-up girls there.
VALENTINES FOR PEACE
Members of Savannah Women for Peace, a chapter of the national organization CODEPINK, gathered in Forsyth Park on Sunday, Feb. 13 to create what they call a “visual spectacle” for peace.
Everyone was asked to wear at least a touch of pink or red, and also were asked to make two Valentines to bring, with a dollar or two to tuck inside each one.
One Valentine was for CODEPINK’s peace campaign, and the other was for Travis Majors, a soldier who recently returned home to Georgia from the frontlines in Iraq. At 22 years of age, he will be a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.
“Make love, not war,” was the message of the event, says Molly Hall of CODEPINK Savannah.
“We were trying to have something purely fun for peace, but also gather Valentines for Travis and honor the growing number of soldiers refusing to fight in Iraq,” Hall says. “It was a success.” — Linda Sickler
