The 9th Savannah Local Artist Market (SLAM) is back and better than ever – including over 80 artists, multiple food trucks, and new community art exhibits!
Who: The Savannah Local Artist Market (SLAM)
When: Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Salvation Army Baseball field at 3000 Bee Rd.
What: The Savannah Local Artist Market (SLAM) will be holding their free spring art market. This season’s event will be the 9th market since its conception in 2019 – and one of the most exciting! The market will feature over 80 local artists across a variety of different mediums including visual art, textiles, photography, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, mixed media, and much more.
Unique to this season’s event will be SLAM’s partnership with Renegade Paws rescue, who will have information on adoption and fostering animals, and Manifesting Mobile, an immersive 3D community collection of rotating art. The mobile is comprised of over 700 art circles, crafted from recycled materials that promote sustainable art practices. Be sure to check out both booths, along with our various options for live entertainment and multiple food trucks!
This year, an exciting announcement runs parallel to the spring market. A long-time supporter of SLAM, Arts Southeast, recently announced “The Ellis Gallery” – named after Charlie Ellis, SLAM’s founder. His passion for community art makes SLAM possible. This year’s market will continue to feature an Arts Southeast booth, where patrons can learn more about this new gallery.
SLAM’s first market in 2019 hosted 60 artists and has grown to over 80 artists. The free, grassroots event was created by Charlie Ellis – a Savannah local and avid artist himself. His inspiration for SLAM is to give artists throughout the southeast an affordable venue to display, sell, and share their work while also providing visitors a fun and festive atmosphere.
