The 4th of July is fast approaching and there are several celebrations taking place throughout the Coastal Empire that are complete with music, entertainment and of course, spectacular fireworks. Celebrate Independence Day with a bang by attending these fun, family-friendly events.
Savannah Stars and Stripes
Plant Riverside District will host their annual Savannah Stars and Stripes July 4th Weekend Celebration between June 30 and July 4. This popular event will feature free live music, kid-friendly activities and food and drink options for all ages. Performers will include the Parris Island Marine Band, the 116th United States Army Band, Roman + the Riot, Laiken Love and The Fellowship of Love and several others. There will also be nightly America the Beautiful Fountain Shows at MLK Jr. Park at 9 and 10 p.m. On July 4, the annual Savannah’s Waterfront Independence Day Fireworks Show will light up the sky over the Savannah River at 9:15 p.m. And a special VIP party will be held at Electric Moon from 7 to 11 p.m. featuring a live DJ, drink specials and giveaways.
Fort McAllister Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration
Fort McAllister State Historic Park is celebrating Independence Day the old-fashioned way with living history demonstrations. On Saturday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the park will transport attendees back to 1864. There will be musket firings, artillery displays, old-timey games and fresh watermelon, making it the perfect celebration for local history buffs.
Richmond Hill Independence Day Celebration
The City of Richmond Hill is hosting their annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 1 at 4 p.m. at J.F. Gregory Park featuring inflatables, vendors, food trucks, amusement rides and classic cars. Attendees can enjoy live performances from talented acts like The Boondockers and The Swingin’ Medallions. The bands will be followed by a fireworks show that starts at sundown. This community event is free and open to the public.
Tybee Fourth of July Bash
The Fourth of July may be best enjoyed by the beach. If that’s true for you, make your way to Tybee during the holiday weekend for a beach bash by the pier. From July 1-4, beachgoers can enjoy great music blasting from the pier. Singer/songwriter Trea Landon will kick off the festivities with a performance on July 1 at 7 p.m. Then an all day party will follow on July 2 and 3. The celebration will end on July 4 with a show by Big Engine at 7 p.m. and a bright fireworks display.
Patriotic Big Band Salute
Head to The Park at Eastern Wharf on July 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. to enjoy a free community concert courtesy of the Thompson Savannah and Tate Law Group. The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra will perform a Patriotic Big Band Salute, filling the air with the soulful, swinging “Sound of Savannah.” In addition to the grand music, attendees can enjoy food trucks including Bow Tie BBQ, Chazito’s, the Naked Dog and Mahalo Shave Ice as well as a mobile bar from the Thompson Hotel. More food and drink options are available at the Thompson’s Bar Julian and Bar by Fleeting. The event will culminate with a fantastic fireworks display that kicks off at 9:15 p.m.
