Savannah locals Jessica Hood, Carl Anthony Miller, Shannon Browning-Mullis and Trent Doty have been named to the Georgia Southern University Alumni Association’s “40 Under 40” Class of 2022. The honor recognizes alumni who have made significant strides in business, leadership, community, educational or philanthropic endeavors.

Jessica Hood

Jessica Hood is a Georgia Southern Double Eagle (an initiative created to recognize alumni who have earned two [or more] degrees from Georgia Southern and Armstrong State University) who earned a bachelor’s in business administration in economics in 2007 and an MBA in business in 2015. Currently, she is vice president of the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority.

Carl Anthony Miller

Carl Anthony Miller earned a master’s in professional communication and leadership from Georgia Southern in 2019. Today, he is CEO of C.A. Miller Publishing Co. and the nonprofit organization Bridge Builder Foundation, Inc.

Shannon Browning-Mullis


Double Eagle Shannon Browning-Mullis earned a bachelor’s and master’s in history from Georgia Southern in 2010 and 2014, respectively. At present, she is the executive director of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace.

Trent Doty

Trent Doty earned a bachelor’s of business administration in logistics from Georgia Southern in 2013. Today, he is a financial advisor at Wells Fargo.

The “40 Under 40” honorees were chosen by a selection committee that reviewed each individual’s professional expertise, achievements, dedication to charitable and community initiatives, and their commitment to Georgia Southern.
