SHAWN CANADY is a senior at Johnson High School. He has worked for three months as a car detailer at Autoshine, a car-washing company located on Whitemarsh Island in Savannah.

Could you describe what your job entails?

Shawn Canady: I work at Autoshine and detail cars. I clean the inside of them and fix anything that the automatic car wash missed.

What is your favorite part about your job?

Shawn Canady: The tips.

And your least favorite?

Shawn Canady: Angry customers.

What is the strangest or funniest experience that you’ve had at work?

Shawn Canady: Two of the exact same cars were there once and we didn’t know whose was whose.

Do you plan to continue with this career?

Shawn Canady: No, it doesn’t work well with my budget.

Do you have any advice for other people who aspire to have this job?

Shawn Canady: Yes, be prepared to work your butt off and work well with people.
