One-time nonstop service to Indy includes Savannah 

Georgia Bulldog fans in the Coastal Empire may now have an easier route to Indianapolis to watch the 'Dawgs play in the National Championship.

The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) announced that Georgia-based Delta Air Lines has added one-time service with nonstop flights from Savannah (SAV) specifically for the College Football National Playoff Championship to be held in Indy next week. (Other cities included are Birmingham (BHM) and Huntsville (HSV)

The Universities of Georgia and Alabama will square off in the playoff championship game, delivering a rematch of the much-talked-about Southeastern Conference Championship game. 

Delta’s one-time nonstop service will fly out of Savannah/Hilton Head Intl' Airport to Indianapolis on Sat., Jan. 8 – just in time for the weekend fan festivities being held in Indianapolis. Returning flights are scheduled for Tues., Jan. 11, the day after the championship game.   

“Delta literally has its eye on the ball with this one-time service opportunity for fans wanting to come join the excitement and fun rivalry in Indy that is sure to energize this much-hoped-for rematch of two titan college football teams,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. 

The Indy airport anticipates more than 100,000 fans will converge on the city leading up to the Jan. 10 championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
