There are plenty of tacos to choose from around Downtown Savannah, but a new taco shop is hoping to corner the market on the Western side of downtown.

A Taco Affair, a very small New Jersey based chain of taco shops has opened their first location outside of Jersey. The corner of Hall and Montgomery to be exact, on the ground floor of the Skylark Apartment building.

Given that it sits on the first floor of a brand new building, the space has something of an industrial feel. 47 seats fill the fast casual concept. (Read: Your order at the counter and/or kiosk, then sit and your food is brought to you).  There are multiple televisions throughout that will come in handy once toe meets leather in a few weeks.

The menu is on the large side. There are 15 different tacos to choose from, plus sides and a couple of desserts. The cooler is filled with soft drinks for now. They have applied for a full liquor license and expect to have that part of the equation up and running in September.

The restaurant is owned and operated by two Jersey Boys Michael Johnson and his business partner Jason. They tell us they've had eyes for Savannah for a few years. The original plan was to open a New York Style pizza spot, but when the opportunity presented itself with A Taco Affair, they chose to go that route.

Monday July 24 was their first day. They will be open every day this week. After that, they expect to be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

A Taco Affair is at 401 W. Hall St. Click HERE to view their menu and more information.
