Several thousand people gathered in Forsyth Park on Sunday (10/6) for the annual Picnic in the Park. -
Elaborate picnic settings were built all over the park, competing for the best Johnny Mercer themed spread, in celebration of the song writer’s 100th birthday, which is in November. -
It took creativity, both in design and menu, to capture a prize this year. -
This group project involved live music and period-appropriate costumes. -
This year’s Mercer theme had everyone trying hard to be ‘note’ worthy, and designs were ‘in concert’ with great food presentations. -
Several groups had full living room sets out in the middle of the park. -

The crowd gathered in the early afternoon and stayed well past sun down listening to great music from Huxsie Scott, Roger Moss and Arts Academy’s Skylite Jazz Band, among others. -
There was no shortage of elaborate set ups for picnic in the park, including this set of oyster shell candelabras. -
Judges make notes about each competitor’s arrangements before announcing winners later in the evening.
