An official qualifier for the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs July Fourth International Hot Dog Eating Contest happens on River Street April 6 at 1 p.m. This is the first time the Nathan’s qualifying tour has visited Savannah.

The top-performing male and female hot dog eaters at the Savannah event will each earn a chance to compete on July 4 at the Nathan’s flagship in Coney Island, NY. This year’s ESPN show will air on July 4 at 1 p.m. Registration is at www.majorleagueeating.com, and all competitors must be 18 years or older.

It’s a part of First Friday & Saturday on River Street, with First Friday Fireworks at 9 p.m. Weekend festivities will kick-off on Friday, April 5 from 4-10 p.m. and continue on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m.-10p.m.

  1. Some of the best eaters in the world will be in Savannah for this hot dog eating contest. I’ll even be coming out of retirement to compete. Last time i was in a Nathan’s hot dog eating contest was in the regional finals in Atlanta in 2006. Living in the Low Country I was chosen to compete in these semi-finals in 2013. Come on out. I hear there may even be a neat eating contest for kids again.
