The Brick & Mortar Live Music Lounge will open Aug. 2 at 307 W. River St., the site of the old Live Wire Music Hall.
Tim and Jennifer Strickland, owners of the Warehouse Bar & Grill, have taken over the venue and refurbished it. “We want to offer a steady stream of regional, national and even international artists year-round,” says Tim Strickland. “And we want to present them in a way that’s geared more toward respectful listening as opposed to a loud bar. It’s a whole different attitude and idea than what you normally find on the riverfront.”
Jim Reed, who’s booking Brick & Mortar for the Stricklands, says the new club will have, among other innovations, a live multi-camera video feed from the stages to large TV monitors located in the various rooms of the club.
Thursday will be “all local” night, Monday will be music-related trivia, and, perhaps most significant of all, live performances will begin as early as 8 p.m.
Band announcements are forthcoming.
The Brick & Mortar website should go live in a few weeks.

Love The 8pm idea, I hate waiting till after 10pm to see any live bands at most places,….mater of fact, I wish more downtown bars would do more like City Market
on Saturdays,…..why not start with some local accostic/solo artest music at about 4pm with happy hour?,…..then say another local full band at about 7pm,….fallowed by a “Headliner” at around 9pm? That would be great.
