Candidates vying for the vacant Presidential position at Savannah State University (SSU) will have until Oct. 29, 2024 to submit applications for the job, according to the official website dedicated to the search. Applications must be submitted through a portal of the search firm assisting a 12-person search committee, AGB Search. The information is part of a job profile posted to the website run by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents (BOR). Connect Savannah reported on the 12-person search committee’s first meeting on July 18.
“The Savannah State University Search Committee for the President will begin reviewing and evaluating applications as they are received,” the job profile says. “For full consideration, applications should be received by October 29, 2024. The search committee will continue its work until an appointment is made. Applications should be in PDF format and submitted through the AGB Search portal. Nominations and questions may be submitted to SavannahStatePres@agbsearch.com.”
Cynthia Robinson Alexander has been the Interim President at SSU since July 1, 2023. She was a former USG employee who was tabbed by the BOR and Chancellor Sonny Perdue to replace previous President Kimberly Ballard-Washington. Ballard-Washington was an Interim President at SSU for two years until she was named the full-time President in May 2021. The “General Calendar” tab on the website displays “TBA” as its header. The “Community Feedback” tab says: “If you would like to nominate anyone for this position, or contact the search firm directly, please do so at TBA.”
