United Way of the Coastal Empire celebrated the 2023-2024 Campaign achievements, recognizing those who contributed to the campaign’s success, and honored the Craig Harney Spirit of Philanthropy Award recipients at the United in Gratitude event on May 14.

An impressive total $9,410,298 was raised and earned to support the community Fiscal Year 2023-2024. This figure was at the heart of the celebratory United in Gratitude event and reflects an eight percent increase in workplace and individual giving over last year.

Three corporate donors teamed up with their employees to donate more than a half million dollars each. These record-breaking donors included the people and companies of Gulfstream, Colonial Group and Georgia Ports Authority.

The Give Award went to Bob Mock, who gave a historic gift that is making a significant impact. Bob’s donation of $1 million to support Bryan County residents facing housing-related challenges marks a historic milestone for the organization, representing the single largest individual gift in United Way of the Coastal Empire’s 86-year history.

As President, and CEO of Thomas & Hutton, he has not only led his company to success but has also instilled the values of philanthropy and community engagement.

I’m sincerely grateful to every person and every company who generously supports the campaign to improve lives throughout our four-county region.”

This year, the best features of United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Annual Meeting and United in Gratitude combined into a single,

dynamic, reception-style event featuring Willie Jackson & the Tybee Island Blues Band. The event was held at Service Brewing Company, located at 574 Indian Street.
