Chatham County Sheriff John T. Wilcher is still recovering, and improving daily, after suffering a cardiac event that put him in critical condition over the weekend. On Wednesday, June 19, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) issued a press release with updates on his health and comments from his family expressing gratitude for the community’s support.
“We have been surrounded by the support and love of our friends, family, the community, and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. We sincerely appreciate your continued consideration and respect for our family’s privacy. We ask for your continued prayers. For those who would like to send a card or a note, please address it to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, 1050 Carl Griffin Drive, Savannah, Georgia, 31405.”
The update comes after a CCSO press conference on Tuesday afternoon regarding the Sheriff’s health. After winning re-election bids in 2016 and 2020 (unopposed in both), Wilcher is due to go up against Democrat Richard Coleman in November’s general election (Nov. 5).
