Wawa convenience retail stores officially broke ground on a new location in Pooler on Wednesday afternoon. The location at Pooler Parkway & Pine Barren Road is one of three local locations for Wawa set to open in early 2025. Wednesday’s event welcomed VIP customers, local officials and charity partners to mark the start of construction in Pooler.

In addition to the Pooler store, the other two sites in progress are located in Hinesville. A pair of stores in Jesup and Brunswick are set to open later in 2024.

As part of the groundbreaking, Wawa and The Wawa Foundation announced contributions to two community partners in Georgia – a grant of $2,500 for the USO for programs serving Fort Stewart and a grant of $2,500 for Special Olympics Georgia benefitting programs supporting area athletes.

“We are excited to begin construction on more stores in Georgia as we get closer to bringing the unique Wawa experience to new customers in more markets all across southern and coastal Georgia,” said Joe Collins, Director of Store Operations for Wawa. “We look forward to continuing to spread our wings in the Peach State and can’t wait to get started serving our new friends and neighbors.”
