Five arrests on Monday, the final day of the four-day 2014 St. Patrick’s Day Festival, “pushed the number made by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police to 64,” a police spokesman says.
Forty-six were made by officers working out of the City Market command center “which covers the majority of the festival area,” police says, and 18 from the command center on River Street.
On Friday, March 14, there were only four arrests. Saturday saw 27 arrests, and Sunday brought 26 collars.
In total, the most common charge was Disorderly Conduct, with 18 arrests. Following that was that old favorite, Public Urination, at 10 arrests.
• Detectives for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating an east Savannah shooting on St. Patrick’s Day that left one person dead and another injured.
At 7:24 p.m. March 17, officers “found two gunshot victims on the ground at the 2000 block of Mississippi Avenue,” a spokesman says.
Barry Trevon Williams, 24, of the 1900 block of Skidaway Road, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dominique Ellison, 25, of a Mississippi Avenue address was transported to Memorial University Medical center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
• Detectives for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a St. Patrick’s Day afternoon shooting.
Just after 4:30 p.m., “Metro responded to reports of shots fired near East Henry Lane and Price Street. Officers observed a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound,” a police spokesman says.
The man was transported to Memorial Medical Center. He is listed in serious but stable condition.
“A male called police soon after the shooting to report he had shot the victim during an altercation,” police says. “He was interviewed by detectives and released.”

• A Texas woman attending school in Savannah received serious but non-life threatening injuries the morning of March 18 after being struck by a Chatham Area Transit bus.
Elizabeth Pryor, 22, of Dripping Springs, TX, was crossing West Oglethorpe Avenue at MLK Junior Boulevard against the pedestrian crosswalk signal when she walked into the path of the bus. She was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
The bus was turning left onto Oglethorpe from MLK with a green arrow at 7:22 a.m.
• Three people are in custody following the seizure of more than one kilogram of cocaine.
Late on the evening of March 20, the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) in a partnership with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), conducted two search warrants in Effingham and Bryan Counties.
The search warrants resulted in the seizure of more than one kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of up to $42,000.
The operation is the result of a six month CNT undercover investigation involving drug sales throughout Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties.
CNT arrested 35-year-old Antonio Garcia, 30-year-old Justino Santana-Mantano, and 27-year-old Humberto Santana-Mantano, all illegally in the United States. Both Garcia and Humberto Santana-Mantano have been charged with Trafficking Cocaine and Justino Santana-Mantano has been charged with Party to the Crime of Trafficking Cocaine.
All three are being held at the Chatham County Detention Center.
