At many of these events breweries representatives will be on hand to talk beer and hand out some brewery goodies. Here is a run down of just a few highlights from Savannah Craft Beer week: Wednesday August 31: You might want to check out Hops and Barley by this date. David Barker, owner of Hops and Barley recently brewed an unfiltered East Coast IPA in Collaboration with Coastal Empire Beer Company. They only brewed up one keg and that will be available exclusively at Hops and Barley during Savannah Craft Beer Week.
Thursday, September 1: Blackberry Farms is Tennessee brewery that’s relatively new to Savannah shelves but well worth seeking out. Give their regular and few rare releases beers a try at Crystal Beer Parlor who will be showcasing their beer as well as brews by Great Divide from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
Friday, September 2: Night of the Beer Geek 7.0. The title says it all. This is a big night for beer geeks. The Distillery brings out the biggest and most outrageous beers they can get their hands on. This is a night you just might be able to check off one of those craft beer “whales” you’ve been looking for. Night of the Beer Geek 7.0 runs from 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm.
Saturday, September 3: The Savannah Craft Brew Festival is the culmination of Savannah Craft Beer week. With over 150 different craft beers on hand the Savannah Craft Brew Festival promises to be a good look at the variety of beers available in the Savannah market. Tickets are available at Habersham Beverage who, along with Southbound Brewing, are the Festival sponsors. General admission tickets are $45.00 or $50 at the gate or $60 or Priority tickets (pre-purchase only). VIP tickets, which get you access to additional beers and entrance to the festival an hour earlier, are $80 or $85 at the gate. Designated Driver (and you should have one) tickets are available for $15.00 for General Admission or $30.00 for VIP.
Sunday, September 4: Need a little help recovering from all the weeks’ festivities? Join the guys of Brew/Drink/Run for the Fourth Annual Craft Beer Week “Recovery Run.” This years Recovery Run is sponsored by Green Truck. Participation is free but if you pre-register and pay a $5 fee you will receive a race bag full of cool swag from all the Savannah Craft Beer Week sponsors. Meet up at Green Truck at 10:00 am for a relaxed, untimed 5K run though some of Savannah’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
This list just scratches the surface of the events happening at Savannah Craft Beer Week. There are plenty of other locations around town that will be part of the action. Ben’s Neighborhood Grill, McDonough’s and all have themed events lined up.
