The Sarah Colvin Ensemble

Wonderful, understated Jacksonville-based jazz vocalist backed by a sympathetic pianist and standup bassist who really know how to swing. Sat., 9 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park.

David Duckworth

Talented jazz pianist whose latest CD features his own arrangements of Johnny Mercer tunes. Tues., 7 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park.

 

Dueling Pianos

High-energy show by wise-cracking tag-team pianists taking requests from the audience (anything from jazz standards and show tunes to heavy metal anthems). Wed. - Sat., Savannah Smiles.

Frank Emerson

Traditional and contemporary acoustic Celtic tunes. Mon. - Tues., Kevin Barry’s.

Entropy

Athens funk and jam group with a strong local fanbase. Lately they’ve been opening for Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, and they just added a 2nd sax man who’s logged a lot of road time with Tyrone Davis (!). Fri., Locos Deli & Pub.

The Jacey Falk Trio

This local boy logged some serious time in the NYC jazz world before returning to his hometown. During that time, the scat vocalist worked with a handful of legendary artists – such as Ruth Brown – and now he leads his own regional combo. Thurs., 8 pm, The Mansion on Forsyth Park.

Full Black Out

Slinky, Tallahassee, Florida groove band featuring overdriven mouth harp. Their swampy blooze bit is a tad affected at times, but they play well as a unit, and are aiming for something more than standard-issue Allmans fetishism. Think SRV meets Panic. Sat., JJ Cagney’s.

The Hitmen

Hard-working local electric blues and R & B act led by guitarist and singer Brett “Hitman” Bernard. They’re becoming one of the more popular such groups in town. Tues. (hosts Open Mic) + Thurs. - Sat., Savannah Blues.

Joey Manning

Veteran, sweet-voiced pianist and guitarist playing several decades worth of soft rock and pop favorites. Sat. - Sun., 7 pm, AJ’s Dockside (Tybee).

Howard Paul & George Sheck

Paul is generally regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists in the area. he plays a custom-built 7-string instrument similar to those used by his friend (and mentor) Bucky Pizzarelli. Sheck accompanies him on bass. Fri. - Sat., 7:30 pm, The Jazz Corner (Hilton Head).

The Denny Phillips Band

Long-running area cover band specializing in upbeat, danceable pop and rock hits from the ‘60s through the ‘90s. Their frontman is well-known for his spot-on Neil Diamond routine. Fri. - Sat., 9 pm, The Oyster Bar (Wilmington Island).

Rick & Ginger of Liquid Ginger

Acoustic duo of key members from this popular regional pop-rock act. Their acoustic act offers well-known covers, plus some originals.Thurs., 7 pm, Tubby’s (Thunderbolt) + Fri., Café Loco (Tybee) + Sat., 12 pm, City Market Courtyard + Sat., Tubby’s (River St.), 6 pm.

She Alice

Pop and rock covers from some of the area’s most experienced players. Fri. - Sat., Scandals (Tybee).

"Georgia" Kyle Shiver

Locally-based singer/songwriter with a strong voice, impressive acoustic guitar skills, and a few CD’s worth of soulful folk, and distinctly Southern blues. Wed., 9 pm, Fiddler’s Crab House + Fri., 7 pm, AJ’s Dockside Restaurant (Tybee) +Sun., Café Loco (10 pm).

Amy Steinberg

Intense Florida-based singer/songwriter known for her bold, ballsy stage demeanor, and introspective, neo-folkie tunes that draw comparisons to Ani DiFranco and Patty Griffin. Fri., 8 pm, The Sentient Bean.

Earl Williams

Hilton Head-based jaz and blues artist.

Greg Williams

Prolific Savannah songwriter and guitarist who plays high-profile showcase rooms in L.A. and Nashville in addition to his regular local haunts.
