Young indie-rock four-piece including former members of the K.I.D.S. whose influences include Nirvana, The Offspring and Rancid. This will be one of their last local shows before they begin a 3-week Summer Tour. Sat., 11 pm, Creole Red.

Chris Cook's Sex & Candy Party w/Gravy

This annual costume party features an assortment of bawdy contests (as do all of Chris Cook’s promotions), as well as live entertainment by the always unpredictable art-rock pranksters Gravy, whose show will likely appeal to fans of Mike Patton’s various musical projects (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, The Dismemberment Plan), as well as death-metalheads and Zappa enthusiasts. Chuck Courtenay & Bucky Bryant

Two of the area’s most popular acoustic cover artists join forces – merging setlists and vocal harmonies in the process – to offer a wide range of country, rock and pop hits. Wed., 7 pm, The Island Grill (Pt. Wentworth).

 

Eric Culberson Blues Band

Savannah’s best-known electric blues guitarist and singer, offering uptown, Chicago-style blues in the vein of Albert and Freddie King. Tue., (hosts Open Mic) - Wed., Mercury Lounge + Thurs., JJ Cagney’s.

Dueling Pianos

This (the only such establishment in town) brings in hired gun pianists from around the Southeast who go head-to-head, fielding requests from the audience and whipping out off-the-cuff renditions of everything from country to rock to jazz to heavy metal tunes at the drop of a cocktail napkin and a five spot. Eat Mo' Music

Fun, hard-grooving instrumental funk-jazz quintet featuring trombone, trumpet, bass, guitar and drums. Sat., 9 pm, Jazz'd Tapas Bar.

The 8-Tracks

Eclectic local cover quartet featuring members of several original bands (such as Superhorse, Hot Pink Interior and The Judge & The Jury). They play everything from ‘50s rock & roll (like Carl Perkins and Little Richard) to kitschy ‘80s music (Prince, The Cars) and modern-day Americana (Lucinda Williams, Chris Isaak). Bob Hay & the Jolly Beggars

Featuring former members of famed Athens underground band The Squalls, this group plays their own renditions of tunes by the 18th century Scottish bard Robert Burns, and other types of traditional Old-Time folk and bluegrass material. Fri., 8 pm, The Sentient Bean.

The Hazzard County Band feat. The Courtenay Brothers

This brand-new local country act features members of The Denny Phillips Band (such as bassist Tim Burke, drummer Mike Bulloch and keyboardist Charlie Denison) as well as the vocal stylings and guitarwork of area faves The Courtenays. It’s a chance for these siblings to flex their muscles with a real band behind them – instead of the sequenced backing they often employ – as well as an opportunity for them to showcase a few of their original tunes. Sun Domingo

Up-and-coming original Atlanta-based modern-pop band that seems poised for greater success. They’re known for hooky, guitar-o-centric arrangements and impressive vocal harmonies which are at times reminiscent of the Finn brothers from Crowded House. Sat., 10 pm, Mercury Lounge.
