What can audiences expect at the upcoming Soul Sessions event at District Live?

It will be an awesome, unforgettable experience. I’ll be bringing entertainment to the stage, along with a few surprises to keep the energy high and the crowd engaged. My goal is to ensure that everyone has a great time and enjoys the music to the fullest. I’m so excited to be a part of Soul Sessions and am looking forward to all of the musical talent that’s going to be present. Get ready for a fun time and memorable moments!

Georgia has so many talented musicians across the state, and Soul Sessions will showcase a range of performers. Why is Georgia such a magnet for singers, musicians and other artists?

Georgia has such a rich, musical heritage, especially in genres like blues, gospel and soul. That heritage attracts artists from all over the world. Georgia is the Hollywood of the South, and every artist wants to be a part of greatness.

How did you first get started acting?

I began acting in 1996. My first professional, theatrical performance was a play called “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” I’ve always had a love for music and acting, and ultimately made a career of it. After working with so many awesome and talented people, I decided to get into producing and opened my own production company called Lovely Diva Productions. Now, I’m producing my first sitcom, called “Ma’s House,” which is currently on Tubi. I feel so blessed.

What is the most important lesson you've learned over the course of your career?

Never lose sight of you. Never lose sight of your goals, dreams and aspirations. It’s o.k. to be a part of other people’s projects, but never lose sight of you. And if you put God first in everything you do, blessings will overtake you.

What do you love most about performing in front of a live audience?

I love that I get to be up close and personal with my fans and that I have the chance to spread love, light and laughter to the world as well as a message of hope.

Soul Sessions will take place at District Live at Plant Riverside District, 400 W. River St., on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets and VIP tables are available at plantriverside.com.
