INTRODUCTIONS: Meet Justin West of League of Brawn

For the past three years, Justin West, the founder of League of Brawn and his powerful league of men have stepped into the community to lead by example.

Whether they are registering voters, hosting block parties to build community or delivering new bikes and toys to families in need, this “benevolent brotherhood,” as they refer to themselves works to continuously display what leadership should look like

Tell us more about you and your background.

I’m a Mississippi native. This is where I was instilled with southern charm and hospitality. It was here that I learned the concept of having a community that poured into the children and each other in an effort to increase its chances of success.

What led to the League of Brawn being formed?

LOB was formed because there are so many men that struggle with life. These struggles tend to lead to things like alcoholism, womanizing, drug addiction, and the most common is depression. I wanted to provide a service that created a non-judgmental atmosphere where men could discuss the internal struggles they may face daily.

Your slogan “Iron Sharpens Iron - Men Sharpen Men” - what does that mean?

The best way to grow and overcome any obstacle is with a strong supporting cast assisting you along the way. Just as Iron sharpens Iron, Men Sharpen Men.

Who are the men you call the benevolent brotherhood?

These men are teachers, business owners, entrepreneurs, pastors, blue collar workers etc. Any man that wants development and is willing to be a champion of change.

This Christmas, what will League of Brawn be doing in the community?

The holiday season is a stressful time for many and want to lessen that stress.  We are hosting our 3rd annual bike and toy drive and as in the year prior, we are exceeding our last year’s total, which was close to 300 bikes. The Bike and Toy Drive is our signature event.  The personal fulfillment and joy that we receive from this amazing endeavor is immeasurable.  It enables us to serve our community by not only reaching adults, but the children.

Who helps with your contributions, how can we donate and how can people join?

It truly takes a village!  We’re so grateful to have the assistance of the community, our yearly sponsors which include but are not limited to organizations such as Dynacraft, Pacific Cycle, Savannah Toyota, Chatham Parkway Toyota, Taylor Hyundai, Boomys etc. There are also a plethora of individual sponsors who assist and donate yearly. The number of individuals is too many to name individually but we deeply appreciate them also. If you want to join us or volunteer - check out our website leagueofbrawndcm.org
