Avett Brothers to do second show at SAV Music Fest; Isbell, LaFarge, Train also added

The Savannah Music Festival has added a second show by The Avett Brothers at the Johnny Mercer Theatre to its slate for the 2014 edition of the Festival. The second show is Thursday, March 20, 8:30 p.m.

Tix go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at the Trustees Theater Box Office at 216 E. Broughton St., by phone at 912-525-5050 and online at www.savannahmusicfestival.org. Cost ranges from $75-32.

The Avetts quickly sold out of their one-night performance at the 2011 Festival, and the initial show announced this year also sold out in similar rapid fashion, prompting the addition of the second gig.

Other late-breaking concert announcements include:

Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive By Truckers and one of the nation’s leading alt-country/blues voices and songwriters, in a show March 23, 7 p.m., at the Ships of the Sea North Garden ($30).

Pokey Lafarge/Kristina Train in a double bill at the Charles H. Morris Center, March 29 at 5:30 & 8:30 pm and March 30 at 4 & 7 pm. Lafarge brings his retro jazz/funk stylings, while Savannah native Train is touring with a killer band which includes Paul Olsen (Scrapomatic), Mike Mattison (Scrapomatic, Derek Trucks Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band), guitarist Dave Yoke (Dr. John), pedal steel player Spencer Cullum (Justin Townes Earle), bassist Ted Pecchio (Susan Tedeschi) and drummer Tyler Greenwell (Tedeschi Trucks Band).
