Spencer Tunick lecture -- The Savannah College of Art and Design presents a lecture and video projections by world-renowned artist Spencer Tunick Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m., at the Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St. Free and open to the public. Tunick was born in 1967 and currently lives in New York. He has been documenting the live nude figure in public since 1992 and has created installations around the world.
First Friday at Chroma -- This month’s First Friday with the Artist at Chroma Gallery features sculptor Bob Friedman, who discusses his inspiration and technique and shows new work. Friday, Nov. 3, 3-7 p.m. Free. Chroma Gallery is at 31 Barnard St. on Ellis Square.
‘30,000 More or Less’ -- Solo MFA thesis exhibition by Alex Gingrow is a visual representation of the horrors and casualties of the ongoing violence in Iraq. Frank Stewart -- Stewart is the principle photographer for the Savannah Music Festival and Lincoln Center in New York. Twelfth Annual Telfair Art Fair -- The Telfair’s popular annual juried art show and sale will once again take place under the tent on Telfair Square in front of the Telfair Academy and the Jepson Center for the Arts. Ticketed preview party on Friday evening. Open to the public Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 12:30-4:30. Awards ceremony and award of $12,000 in prizes will be held Saturday at noon (adjudicated by Marcia Goldenstein, Professor of Art, University of Tennessee School of Art.) ‘Holidays, Hope & Warmth’ -- Union Mission’s Growing Hope Artisans’ Cooperative presents cooperative member holiday card designs, hand-crocheted Afghans and text discussing the issue of providing “warmth” to people impacted by homelessness during the winter and holiday months. Comic Industry Panel -- SCAD honors comic art and sequential art storytelling as top industry professionals gather for a panel discussion Saturday, Nov. 11, 6-8 p.m., Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St.
Free and open to the public. Popular ink artist Scott Hanna, who has worked on all of Marvel Comics’ top characters including Spider-man, the X-Men, Wolverine, Thor, the Avengers, Daredevil and the Hulk; and Marvel Comics painter Paolo Rivera will serve as panelists. SCAD sequential art alumni panelists include current pencil artist for Archie Comics’ “Sonic the Hedgehog” Tracy Yardley (B.F.A., 2001), Dreamworks SKG storyboard artist Phil Craven (M.F.A., 2002) and Nick Dragotta (B.F.A., 1997), whose work can be seen in Marvel and DC Comics. Prior to the panel discussion, a reception will be held at Pei Ling Chan Gallery and Garden for the Arts, 324 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Thursday, Nov. 9, 6-8 p.m.
‘We Are Three Sixty’ -- Justin Barnes’ SCAD Senior Installation Show is a multi-screen documentary installation capturing aesthetic of Wham City, a warehouse space located in Baltimore. The installation will be held at the Desot O Row Gallery Annex at 2422 DeSoto Ave in the Starland District. Installation runs every day from 2-11 p.m. through Sat., Nov. 4. Subsequent events will be held daily including a closing ceremony live performance by Wham City’s own Dan Deacon on 7 p.m. Nov. 4.
‘Ghana: A Photo Documentary’ -- The City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs exhibits photographer Carrie Brown works at Gallery S. P. A. C. E. (Savannah’s Place for Art, Culture and Education) Nov. 10 through Dec. 15. Brown is currently a documentary photographer for Cross-Cultural Solutions in Ghana, West Africa. The exhibition will include works from her journey through towns along the western coast of Ghana, as well as works from her Ghanaian students. Admission is free.
