Art Patrol

‘House, First Installment’ -- In this unique art event by ‘HOUSEART,’ eight local and international artists install works in seven rooms of a 1920 Victorian house in the Thomas Square Historic District prior to its renovation and restoration.

The show runs April 1-3 at 1502 Habersham St. at 31st Street. Opening reception is Friday April 1, 7-10 p.m. Hours Saturday and Sunday noon-4 p.m. Free and open to the public. ‘Art Bodies’ -- The Elysium will host an exhibit of figurative art during April. The artists are regular participants of the Wednesday Morning Figure Drawing Sessions at The Art School. Opening reception is Friday, April 8, 7 p.m. at The Elysium Wine Bar on Chippewa Square. Artists include Maxine Bomer, Julia Christian, Jeannine Cook, Majorie Dessauer, Lind Hollingsworth, Brenda Turner, and Steve Willis.



‘A Fine Dividing Line: Folk Art, Fine Art’ -- A double show to be mounted at the Hurn Museum includes “Purvis Young: A 30 Year Retrospective” and “Ricardo Manuel Diaz: Reality Out of Grayness.” Champagne reception scheduled for First Friday, April 1, 7-9 p.m. Purvis Young highlights life within the urban landscape. Ricardo Manuel Diaz maintains the human figure central to his work, imprisoned. The Hurn Museum of Contemporary Folk Art is at 1015 Whitaker St.



‘On the Bias’ -- This show “seeks to subvert fiber art stereotypes while finding distinction within the contemporary art field.” The show opens April 1 and runs until April 30 at Starland Center of Contemporary Art (StarCCA) 2428 Bull St. Opening reception Friday, April 1, 6-10 p.m. Free and open to the public



Gallery 209 Artists of the Month --

Bluffton painter Lynda Potter and Tybee Island potter Jane Freyermuth are featured at Gallery 209, 209 E. River St. throughout April. Open seven days a weeks, from 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
